For this project, I chose 350.org. They are a global organization which seeks to solve the climate crisis through online campaigns and grassroots organizing. They mainly use Facebook and Twitter.
350.org uses Twitter to comment on current climate events, such as the recent heat wave at the end of winter. They also comment on political issues that relate to the environment, such as the Keystone XL pipeline. Other people also comment on similar things on their page. They use Facebook for a lot of the same purposes, but their Facebook is more involved: people share articles and petitions, and 350.org make posts of their own of similar natures. The overall atmosphere of their social media pages is to get involved and get excited about solving the great problem of climate change and spreading awareness.
350.org is very connected with another organization called Connecting the Dots, which is actually a radio show hosted by a woman named Alison Rose Levy whose mission is to explore everything which affects the health of humans, including the climate crisis.
I think this organization uses social media effectively because they are trying to rally people to join their cause, and they seem to have a lot of supporters. Their mission is to spread awareness and expand their campaign to as many countries and people as possible.
